Chapter 17

Jake

Monday goes slow as hell. Spending most the day going over trusts, titles, and accounts in my name and sewing everything up so Charlie will be protected is a fucking nightmare.

Then I went and mentioned that any child she bore by Connal would be done with my knowledge and agreement and I wanted those kids to inherit equally, naturally that created another dozen or so clauses.

“You sure about this, Jake?” William asks for the fifth time. “They could just be conning you. There’s a lot of money at play here.” I don’t even answer him anymore, just stare him down until he gets back to it.

Everything’s ready when I get to the office the following morning, signing the will and a few other documents to leave on record; I take off with the prenup, eager to get back to Rowansville.

I head straight to the Garage. Charlie rolls out from under a car when she hears the bike pull up, a smile lighting up her grease streaked face as I walk towards her. Helping her up, I quickly have her legs wrapped around my waist and am kissing her for all I’m worth.

“Hey, hey, none of that,” Connal growls, entering the garage. “I don’t get to touch her here, neither do you.”

Charlie laughs as she breaks our kiss and slides back down to the ground. Leaning over to my ear, she loudly whispers; “He’s been getting grouchier every day, at least until we get home.”

I nuzzle her neck before letting her go. “What’s been happening, Brother?”

“Russian claimed Betsy on Sunday night.” He starts.

“No shit?!” I grin at the thought.

“Diamond lost it,” Charlie cuts in. “Then Vice was quiet and pouting last night at Riley’s dinner, so no one talked about it.” She eagerly catches me up on the news.

“Men don’t pout, Baby,” I correct her; getting a snort from her.

“That’s what I said,” Connal jumps in. “You almost done there, Charlie?”

“Yep, I was just cleaning it up.” She tells him.

“Get the paperwork done so we can head out early. I’ll let Royce close up today,” Connal says. “I need some of those kisses too.”

“Actually, I thought we could have sex tonight,” Charlie drops that bombshell on us nonchalantly, before turning back to her lane.

The two of us freeze, staring at each other, unsure if we heard right.

“Get home, get cleaned up!” Connal says, coming to first; then running towards his office. “I’ll stall her a little.”

I immediately take off, forgetting to say goodbye to Charlie. I stop off for flowers, candles, champagne, and condoms.

Shit, my basket is like an advertisement for ‘I’m getting laid after the Prom.’ But what the fuck? It’s her first time; this has to be done right.

I’ve just finished my shower and tugging on shorts when I hear Connal’s bike pull in. He’s chasing her up the stairs when I open the door.

“Save me!” She cries dramatically, laughing and hiding behind me.

“You – Shower. Now.” I direct Connal, keeping her behind me. He chuckles and follows my direction, throwing a big wink to Charlie.
